The office of compline (or “night prayer”) is the final hour of the divine office. It offers a time of stillness, prayer, and quiet contemplation as we prepare for the end of the day. Our order of compline is an expanded version of that practiced in the Lutheran tradition. It adheres closely to the Roman Rite, but also borrows generously from Anglican and Sarum sources. It is entirely sung (and chanted) from beginning to end by the Schola Cantorum Lorain, and the music consists of plainsong and renaissance polyphony.
Beginning in December, the office of compline will be sung on the first and third Sundays of the month, at a new time: 8 pm.
